About Your Science Projects and Experiments

Dear class:

If you are working on a science project during class, you have to either be doing the experiment or editing (organizing) the video in preparation to publish it.

If you have finished your experiment and the video, you must turn it in and start your second or third project.

If you are ready to start your next project but don't have the material with you in class, you should write out a new Experiment/Project Plan of what your next project/experiment is, explaining in detail what it is you want to show/prove with you science experiment/project. You should also add the link of the site you took to your project plan/proposal from.

If you have already finished and submited your experiment/project plan (proposal), please come and talk to me, I will demonstrate another experiment in class that you can record and work on in class.

If you have finished your experiments and need help finding another meaninful experiment/project to work on, come and talk to me. I have a list of many experiments with explanation of many science experiments and projects you can work on. So if you are having difficulty choosing a meaninful project to work on by yourself, come to me and I will help you choose one or assign you one.

Peer Reviewed Science Experiments and Videos

Projects Well Done

Dear class, first of all I would like to congratulate you for your science projects, experiments, and videos. Many of you did a good job at with your first experiments and video presentations, but I know that all of you can do even better.

How to Improve?

Some of you needed to add more information about your experiment, or explain their purpose and how you did them more clearly and completely. Because this is your first time doing these experiments and using multimedia to present them, you may not really know what you did well enough and what you can improve. This is why we need to think about what we did well, and the things we can improve. To help you think about what you did well and what things you can improve, you can receive feedback from the teacher but also from many of you classmates.

What is feedback?

Feedback, for our purposes, should includes you telling other students what you liked and understood about their projects, and share with them specific things you think they can do to improve their projects/experiments/videos.

Example

For example, if you saw that one of the experiments looked really cool but you did not understand it very well, you could say something like: "I liked the part of your experiment where you... (explain some specific things you liked about their experiment). After you told them SPECIFIC things you liked, you can also give them some specific suggestions for improvement by saying something like: "One suggestion is to... or "Maybe you can try to explain the follow ... a little more clearly" Be specific in the things you suggest they can improve and even give them an example if you can. For example you could say: "One thing you can do is add subtitles or slides to your video with step by step written instructions..."
